Synod Archives Victoria is the repository for records of the Uniting Church in Australia, Victorian Synod, and its antecedent denominations: the Congregational Union of Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia and some parts of the Presbyterian Church of Australia.
The collection is based around Wesleyan-Methodist/Methodist records, with additions since 1977 of Congregational and Presbyterian material, and a continuing collection of Uniting Church material.
The collection includes baptismal registers, parish histories, biographies and personal memorabilia, artefacts and liturgical items, as well as congregational and connexional records, church publications, minutes of Conference and records of missionary activity. The Archives also holds an extensive collection of photographs and church plans. Most collection materials are stored offsite. Quantity: 1700 lineal metres of records; 40,000 photographs, maps and plans.
