Synod Archives Victoria is the repository for records of the Uniting Church in Australia, Victorian Synod, and its antecedent denominations:
the Congregational Union of Australia,
the Methodist Church of Australasia and
some parts of the Presbyterian Church of Australia.
The collection is based around Wesleyan-Methodist/Methodist records, with additions since 1977 of Congregational and Presbyterian material, and a continuing collection of Uniting Church material.
The collection includes baptismal registers, parish histories, biographies and personal memorabilia, artefacts and liturgical items, as well as congregational and connexional records, church publications, minutes of Conference and records of missionary activity. The Archives also holds an extensive collection of photographs and church plans. Most collection materials are stored offsite.
Quantity: 1700 lineal metres of records; 40,000 photographs, maps and plans.

Open Thursdays 9am-4pm, Mondays and Fridays by appointment only.
Researchers are advised to give one week's advance notice of a visit as most collection materials are stored offsite. Retrieval of offsite materials will incur a charge.
General research assistance is available (charges may apply). Reference enquiries can be forwarded by mail or email.
Copying services for books, journals, original records to A3 size and newspapers available (charges apply). Researchers can use their own cameras/phones to photograph collection materials.
