The University of Western Australia (UWA) was established in 1911 as the State's first university. It was also the first free university in the British Empire, actively promoting equal access to tertiary education for all social classes.

University Archives is a section reporting to the Manager Special Collections under the University Library. The Archives is a separate unit within the Library.
University Archives act as the custodian of the records of the University that have been identified as having permanent value.
Database available, but access is limited to Archives staff only and it is not available online.
Hard copies of certain finding aids are available.
Open Monday to Friday 1-4pm.
Operates under the State Records Act 2000 (WA).
The Search Room is on the 2nd Floor. It is a combined search room with the Special Collections in the Reid Library Building.
