Mulwaree High School Remembrance Museum, Goulburn, New South Wales
Begun in 1992, The Mulwaree High School Remembrance Project is a joint school-community initiative. It comprises two parts: the Museum and its collection of military memorabilia and a Remembrance Corridor along the east and north borders of the school. This comprises an Australian native tree planted for Goulburn service men and women killed on active service in the two World Wars and the Vietnam War. This corridor was listed on the New South Wales War memorial Register in 2016.
Whilst the building is New South Wales Department of Education property, the collection is owned and managed by the Friends of Mulwaree Museum.
The Museum collects military material relating mainly to the Goulburn District. Donations of military artefacts are eagerly sought in terms of the Museum’s Collection policy.
Museum located in a purpose-built building near the entrance to the teachers’ car park.
The Mulwaree High School Remembrance Museum includes a growing collection of primarily Goulburn and district military memorabilia. The collection contains militaria from the current conflicts where Australians are serving right back to the New Zealand Maori War, fought in the mid-nineteenth century.
Acquisitions include battlefield relics from Gallipoli and France, prisoner of war relics from Hellfire Pass, uniforms, medals, ordnance, photos, diaries, flags, and personal effects.
The Museum also focuses on collecting information and artefacts relating to men and women from the district that served in any area of conflict.
