Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society Inc, New South Wales
The Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society is a non-profit organisation founded in 1967. Since 1973 the society has maintained and managed the Old School Museum, which is housed in a heritage building (originally a school with the master’s residence attached) dating from 1873.
The Society is also responsible for an archive collection. It acquires, conserves, researches and exhibits the history of Merimbula, Pambula and adjacent areas for the purpose of education and enjoyment of both local residents and visitors.
Merimbula is a coastal town on the Sapphire Coast, southern New South Wales, halfway between Melbourne and Sydney.
The Old School Museum is in the centre of Merimbula.
Incorporated as a voluntary organisation.
Committee as set out in the Society Incorporation Act (NSW) and Society rules.
Mosaic software used and, under the collection policy, the emphasis is on collecting material relating to the local area.
Old School Building and storage annexe with toilet.
Extensive local records, including historical records relating to to local institutions and businesses, oral histories, maps, books, artifacts, paintings and photographs.

Museum: Open Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday 1.30pm-4pm and groups by appointment.
Historical Society collection for research: by appointment only.
Dependant on availability of volunteers.
The heritage building is not accessible to wheelchairs.
Research for the public can be conducted by volunteers for a moderate fee. Personal visits for research by appointment only.
Photocopying and limited scanning available.
Museum and grounds are open to the public on opening days or by arrangement. Office and storage annexe are closed to the public.
