Melbourne Cricket Club Archives
The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) Archives collection was opened for public access in 2012. These primary source documents illustrate the history of the MCC, its management of the Melbourne Cricket Ground and other sporting facilities, and its contribution towards the development of sport.
Officer in charge: Archivist
The MCC Archives reflect the administration of the MCC as a private sporting club, and as an important cricket institution and promoter of a national Australian game.
Types of records held include financial, administrative and cultural/socio/historical records including ledgers, minute books, letter books, membership books, receipt books, stile books, scorebooks, scrapbooks, maps and plans, sketches, personal and business correspondence.
Open by appointment organised in advance only. Open during MCC library opening hours (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am-4pm), subject to Melbourne Cricket Ground match day requirements.
Access to the collection is by appointment only. In preparation, prospective users are advised to familiarise themselves with the MCC Archives Access Policy.
Researchers who wish to undertake their own research using the archives need to register annually before they are able to access collection material.
(For further details, see https://mcc.org.au/about-the-club/club-history/mcc-archives)
Archives staff can provide general information about the collections and relevant advice concerning any secondary source material. They can assist with specific reference enquiries.
Simple research questions that can be answered easily will be treated as reference enquiries and be free of charge.
The archives will conduct a limited amount of research on behalf of researchers (fees apply). See website.
