(Note: The St Peters Municipality, established in 1871 and the Petersham Municipality, established in 1872 were merged into the Marrickville Municipality (established in the 1960s) in 1948.
As at early 2018, the former Leichhardt, Ashfield and Marrickville councils in Sydney had recently merged to form the Inner West Council. This could result in changes to structures.)

Marrickville Council Archives holds the surviving records created or received by Marrickville Council since 1866 and its predecessors Petersham Council and St Peters Council since 1871.

The Archives does not receive material from any source other than the council and its predecessors.
