Luther College, Independent Co-educational Secondary School, Melbourne
The Luther College Archives was established in 2006 as a small, school collecting archives.
Luther College is a Lutheran independent non-government co-educational secondary school which opened in 1964 with 54 students. It now has an enrolment of almost 1200 students.
It was originally designed to cater for the education of children of Lutheran farmers, mostly from the Western Districts and surrounding areas and so students were mainly boarders. Boarding was discontinued in 2002.
Today the school population is incredibly varied, taking students mostly from the local area but also extending its reach into the Dandenongs and the outer northern and some eastern suburbs.
The school is situated on 32 acres in outer eastern Melbourne. While students represent many different faiths (or none), the school maintains a strong Christian Protestant ethic and outlook.
