Historique

Knox Grammar School is an independent, Uniting Church, day and boarding school for boys, catering for students from preparatory to senior school. It is located in Wahroonga, an upper North Shore suburb of Sydney.

The history of Knox formally began in 1924 when it opened as a Presbyterian Boys' School after school founders Reverend John Gilmore, William McIlrath, Sir Robert Gillespie and Andrew Reid purchased what is now Gillespie Boarding House as the first Knox School building.

The Knox Grammar School Archives and Museum was established in 1989. The Archives and Museum exist to preserve and make accessible, the unique and irreplaceable heritage of the school, the Old Knox Grammarians’ Association and the Knox Parents’ Association. The Archives and Museum also holds the historical records of Wahroonga Preparatory School.

Founded in 1926, Wahroonga Preparatory School is a small, co-educational Uniting Church school for children from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. Knox and Wahroonga Prep have strong historical links as Uniting Church schools, with many shared programs and opportunities for our girls and boys.
