The Hobart Hebrew Congregation was established in 1842 and are custodians for the oldest synagogue in Australia, the Hobart Synagogue.
The Congregation is an inclusive congregation serving all Tasmanian Jews and promotes Judaism and the interests of Jews in the wider Tasmanian community.
The Congregation released a digital online archive in June 2020.

The digital archive (see https://www.hobartsynagogue.org/ca_library/pawtucket/) includes approximately 1300 records (as at August 2020), for example:

• Copies of meeting minutes, 1841-1958, both original and transcriptions
• Newspaper articles, 1828- current
• Letters
• Journal articles.

The records are a combination of:

• Congregation's files that have been digitised by the Tasmanian Archives and Heritage office
• newspaper articles retrieved in the National Library of Australia's Trove application, and
• other material.

A website extensively catalogued with metadata to allow for advanced search and browse retrieval.
