The Beverley Historical Society was formed by volunteers in 1987 to foster the safe-keeping and promotion of Beverley’s Heritage.

The society operates from the Dead Finish Museum in Hunt Road, Beverley. The museum is housed in the oldest building in Beverley, the “Wheatsheaf Inn”, built by Alfred Smith in 1872. It holds a very fine collection of artefacts depicting life in Beverley since settlement in 1831.

Beverley is a town in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, 133 kilometres south-east of the state capital, Perth, between York and Brookton on the Great Southern Highway. It is on the Great Southern railway line.

The society collects material relating to the district.

Holds material relating to the district and people associated with it, including:

• family histories
• photographs
• some old maps and title deeds
• minutes and journals of defunct businesses and clubs.

Museum hours: every Sunday 11am-3pm from mid-March to November and at any other time requested.
The archives for the Beverley area are not available for general public viewing.

If people have a specific question we try to provide an answer but we have no paid staff.
