The University of Adelaide Archives was established in 1983 with the appointment of the first University Archivist.

The University of Adelaide Archives consists of a small team working from offices located on both the North Terrace and Waite Campuses. It is also supported by members of a Volunteer Group who assist with preservation, digitisation and processing tasks.
The Archives collects material relating to the University of Adelaide and its affiliated institutions, including student governing bodies, clubs and associations.
The collection consists of official records of the University of Adelaide including records relating to governance, staff, students, teaching, research, university clubs and associations. There are also records of affiliated institutions including:

Open office hours, Monday to Friday 9am-4.30pm.
Advance notice is required for visits. A closed period of 30 years applies to some records.
Reference assistance is available by contacting the Archives with details of the query prior to visiting.
Copying and scanning facilities are available.
