St Helens History Room tells the story of the settlement of St Helens on the far east coast of Tasmania.

It features more than 1000 artefacts on display and provides a snapshot of the history of the area from the mountains to the sea including Indigenous heritage, maritime history and the tales of local pioneers including the Chinese Tin miners.

Purpose built facility that houses the museum, backroom work space and the visitor information centre.

Genealogical archive relating to settler families. Historical archive relating to history of St Helens. There is an extensive photographic collection with approximately 20,000 images.

Mosaic software catalogue system.

Open Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am - 3.30pm.
Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday.

Wheelchair access available.

Staff respond to research enquiries, and provide general reference assistance to visiting users.

Copying/scanning services available.
