South Australian Genealogy and Heraldry Society Inc, Adelaide
Founded in 1972 and incorporated on 29 August 1973, the Society now has over 3200 members and a significant library.
Primarily focused on South Australia.
A President and Council are elected at the Annual General Meeting.
A branch is based at Kadina with a small library. (Kadina is a town on the Yorke Peninsula, approximately 144 km north-northwest of Adelaide.)
The collection policy is primarily focused on South Australia. The society has an active copying policy (previously by microform and now digitisation) and an active indexing program with volunteers entering data into a computer database which is being gradually up-loaded onto the website.
Located in the former Unley Institute building, built in 1911.
In-house database of records which is increasingly being moved onto a website database.
Tuesday, 10.30am-9pm
Wednesday and Thursday, 10.30am to 4.30pm
Saturday, 10.30am to 4.30pm
Sunday (2nd and 4th), 1-4.30 pm
Office Hours Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm.
The Library is primarily for the use of the members, however, non-members can use the library by paying a visitor's fee. Some material is available on the website, but a fee is payable for additional material by non-members.

A photocopier is available and a digital camera can be used for some records. Copies can be taken from microform viewers. However, there is an embargo on copying some records (eg District Records of Births, Deaths and Marriages).
