Records management and collecting policies
The Samuel Marsden Archives collects the institutional records of Moore College, as well as the records of organisations and individuals with a connection to Moore College, the Anglican Diocese of Sydney and/or the evangelical tradition in Australia.
As well as the archives of Moore Theological College, the Samuel Marsden Archives holds the following major collections: Church of England/Anglican Historical Society, Anglican Church League, Bishop William Grant Broughton, Rev Samuel Marsden, Deaconess Mary Andrews, Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students, Rev Lance Shilton, Professor E C B Maclaurin, Rev Bernard Judd and the Mothers’ Union, among others. (Note that the records of the Marella Mission Farm, formerly held in the Samuel Marsden Archives, are now held by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies.)
Some collections or series require the written permission of the donor/creator. This is indicated on the archives catalogue entry. All users must complete a Request to Access Material on Restricted Access form. Two days' advance notice of visit preferred.
The Archivist may answer basic reference enquiries made by phone or email but does not provide in-depth research services.
Photocopying archival material is not permitted. The Archivist provides copies of personal records free of charge upon request. Requests for permission to reproduce material for publication are assessed individually.
