Geschiedenis

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) was formed on 23 October 1998, with the amalgamation of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RACOG) and the Royal New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RNZCOG).

The Royal Australian College
The Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists was formally established in August 1978. In 1980 the prefix 'Royal' was acquired and the College became the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RACOG). The new College replaced the former Australian Council of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in London.

The Royal New Zealand College
The New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists was formally established in January 1982. The prefix ‘Royal’ was acquired in 1984 and the College became the Royal New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RNZCOG). The new College replaced the former New Zealand Council of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), in London.

Organisatie structuur

RANZCOG is governed by a seven-member Board who are the directors of the College. The Board manages the financial, legal and business operations of the organisation and is supported in its activities by the Council and a range of committees.

Records management and collecting policies

The Archives are derived from the records of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and its predecessors (the Australian Council of the RCOG, and RACOG), the Arthur Wilson Foundation, the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Fellows and other sources. Certain societies have developed in relation to special interests of College members and the records of these societies relevant to the College are also included.

The records consist of manuscripts, typescripts (this includes records of the College administration section), photocopies, photographs, microforms, artefacts, college apparel and record books.
