History

The Rockingham District Historical Society was formed in 1969. One of the aims of the society is to maintain the Rockingham museum and local history library.

  • The Rockingham Museum was first opened in 1974. It is currently housed in an Art Deco building, the former Rockingham Road Board Building built in 1946/47. It was extended in 1988 to join the library building which become part of the museum building in 1999.
  • The local history library covers Rockingham and state history. It can be accessed by members of the public for research purposes.
