History

The Ringwood and District Historical Society exists to collect, preserve and promote material relating to the history of Ringwood, Victoria, and local districts.

Its purposes are three-fold:

  • to collect local historical objects and information for the local community
  • to promote local history by holding regular meetings and organising historical displays
  • to undertake research for members, the general public, government organisations and corporations.
    The society has a humidified and air conditioned archives, which is open to the public by appointment.

Ringwood is a suburb of Melbourne, 23 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District. It is in the local government area of the City of Maroondah.
