Ravenswood School for Girls is an independent, Uniting Church, day and boarding school for Kindergarten to Year 12 girls, situated in Gordon. Established in 1901 by Mabel Fidler, Ravenswood caters for approximately 1100 students. The school offers both Higher School Certificate and International Baccalaureate credentials.

In January 1901 Miss Mabel Fidler commenced classes in a schoolroom built adjacent to her home ‘Ravenswood’, in Gordon. Many of her Ravenswood students went on to university, obtaining degrees in Medicine, Science and Arts at a time when female graduates were rare.

In 1925, the Methodist Church purchased the school ensuring its future and reinforcing the Christian philosophy. The school worked under the control of the Methodist Ladies College, Burwood, and introduced boarding in 1935. Ravenswood became independent in 1946 and then under single control in 1949.

Ravenswood has been a Uniting Church school since 1977 with the joining of the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches. The school is a member of the Association of Heads of Independent Girls’ Schools (AHIGS).

Ravenswood has resolved to collect records of its own staff and students, and memorabilia about the school from its Alumni.

Open Tuesday to Wednesday 8.30am-4pm.
Closed in school holidays.
