The Ravensthorpe Historical Society was founded in 1970 with the aim of preserving, and recording the Shire's history, including objects, photos and archival material. The main collection is housed in a purpose built facility on Morgans Street and in the original and renovated Dance Cottage. Displays are arranged by topics and recorded on a database.
Ravensthorpe is a town 541 km south-east of Perth and 40 km inland from the south coast of Western Australia. The town is the seat of government of the Shire of Ravensthorpe.

The holdings include mainly photographs and some newspapers and papers.
The photographs include those of Walter Egbert Elston, a photographer in Ravensthorpe from May 1901 to 1912. He came from Esperance Bay where he had been a draper, stationer and photographer (see http://www.ravensthorpehistory.org.au/documents/elston.html)
Museum: Open Monday to Saturday, 10am-4pm.
