The Directory of Archives in Australia is published by the Australian Society of Archivists www.archivists.org.au or contact directory@archivists.org.au
The Archives maintains a network of Regional Archives Centres which began in 1963. These centres give physical context to regional State archives by keeping them within the communities where they were created and give those communities ready access to their archives.
A Regional Archives Centre is a public office (to date, either a university or a local council), that houses and makes available the archives of its host institution plus other State archives of regional significance. This includes archives from a range of public offices such as Local Land Boards, Schools, Councils, Police and Local Courts. The Archives Centres also house copies of the Archives Resources Kit and private collections of regional records. See:
