The Nandewar Historical Society, based in Barraba, north-west New South Wales, was formed in 1965. It exists to preserve the history of Barraba and the surrounding district. This encompasses the history of early pioneering families, mining, agricultural and military heritage. The Society is named for the The Nandewars, a mountain range in the local area.
The society runs the Barraba Historical Museum. With the help of the Tamworth Reginal Council and the state government, the museum has had a facelift along with improved amentites for both members and visitors. It was re-opened in April 2019.
