History

Public Library Services were established in Inverell in 1940, making the library the third oldest public library in New South Wales.

Records management and collecting policies

Collection focuses on material relating to Inverell and its communities of interest, including Tingha, Bingara, Bundarra and Warialda. Published works authored by past and present citizens of the Inverell region are also collected, regardless of the nature of the works (ie works of fiction or non-fiction without local historical references).

Open Monday to Friday 9.30am-5.30pm and Saturday 9.30am-4pm.
Closed Sundays and public holidays.

Access conditions and requirements

The majority of materials are housed on open access, but all items are not for loan. Researchers desiring detailed assistance are encouraged to contact the library in advance to arrange a suitable time to visit.

Accessibility

Disabled access parking is available at the right-hand end of the building. Ramp access is available and all public areas are wheelchair accessible. A low vision aid device (Clearview Spectrum) is available for use.

Research services

Basic research support is available at all times, but for advanced support, prior contact to arrange suitable times is preferred.

Reproduction services

Copying (fees apply) and scanning facilities are available. Copying is via a coin-operated machine: some change may be available from staff. There are no eftpos facilities.
Researchers are welcome to scan or photograph records, in keeping with appropriate Copyright restrictions.
