History

In 1968, a public meeting convened jointly by the then Municipal Council and the Severn Shire, and at the request of the Adult Education Association, formed a committee to be known as the Glen Innes and District Historical Society Inc.

A committee arranged a lease agreement for the old Hospital on behalf on the Historical Society. The Society became the Trustee of what was named the Land of the Beardies History House Museum and Research Centre.

The Research Centre is a valuable resource for those people compiling family and local histories.
