The Goldfields War Museum had its origins towards the end of 1970s when the Boulder Shire Council and the Boulder Development Committee wished to establish a tourist precinct. The collection has over 2000 items, of which many are photographs, documents and maps.
The city's Local History Archives collection has over 30 000 items in its collection some dating back to 1895. The Goldfields War Museum consists of personal items belonging to Goldfields servicemen and servicewomen as well as items associated with homefront activities. The collection consists of uniforms and other paraphernalia, flags, coins, medals, photographs, documents (letters, postcards and field maps) and arms - large field guns and military vehicles.
