Records management and collecting policies
All materials deposited or acquired for the Archives must have a direct connection to the Archdiocesan function, presence and history. Any items that may be acquired are at the discretion of the Director.

Holdings of the Sydney Archdiocesan Archives include:
The records of the Office of the Archbishop of Sydney and his administrative units constitute the core record holdings of the Archives.
Personal records of former Archbishops of Sydney.
Ancillary records which include, but are not limited to, the Auxiliary Bishops, parishes and agencies of the Archdiocese, and records pertaining to the correspondence between the Archbishop of Sydney and religious orders.

Research fees apply. Permission to access Sydney Archdiocesan Archives is gained through the Chancellor of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney on application to the Archives Services Manager.
Please note, the Sydney Archdiocesan Archives is not resourced for family history or genealogical research.
