The Canning Historical Society runs the Woodloes Homestead Museum.
Built in 1871 on the banks of the Canning River, the heritage-listed Woodloes Homestead is the oldest building in Canning. In 1971 restoration work was commenced by the City of Canning, and the homestead was opened as a museum in 1978. Canning Districts Historical Society restored its interior to reflect the way a well-to-do family would have lived during the early years of the Swan River Colony. The homestead now houses a large collection of colonial and post-colonial artefacts that demonstrate daily life from years past.

The City is located in Perth’s south-eastern suburbs, about 10km from the Perth central business district. The City is made up of 16 suburbs including Bentley, Cannington, East Cannington, Ferndale, Lynwood, Parkwood, Queens Park, Riverton, Rossmoyne, Shelley, Welshpool, Willetton, Wilson and parts of the suburbs of St James, Canning Vale and Leeming.
