History

Brisbane Boys’ College (BCC) was established in 1902 and is a GPS (Great Public School) day and boarding school for boys from Preparation to Year 12. It is a school of the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools’ Association.

The college has an archives and the Living History Centre was officially opened in 1998.

The Brisbane Boys’ College archive collection is the central repository for the historical records of all aspects of the college’s community. It records, preserves and makes assessable a wide range of primary source material relating to the college’s history.

The college archives hold the founder’s original records including rolls, diaries and financial records from as early as 1902 when the school was established.
There are also catalogued collections of artwork, print material, photography and memorabilia throughout the college’s history. Donations of college historical material and memorabilia are encouraged.

The Archives is open by appointment Wednesday to Friday 9.30am-4.30pm (during term time).
Closed public and school holidays.

The Living History Centre is located on the ground floor of College House, formerly the Headmasters’ residence. Old Collegians and friends of the college are welcome to view the display during normal opening hours during term time, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm (without assistance on Mondays and Tuesdays).
