Collection commenced in the 1960s with the Gardens opening to the public in 1970 and a permanent librarian appointed in 1988.
Librarian
The Library collection's primary focus is the taxonomy, botany and horticulture of Australian native plants. There are significant collections on cryptogams and orchids. Other subject areas include indigenous use of plants, botanic gardens, herbaria, flora of other countries, plant conservation and botanical illustration.
The archives collection forms a permanent record of the history and development of the Gardens.
Open Monday to Friday 9.30am-4.30pm by appointment.
The library and archives are located on the top floor of the Botany Building. Access is by stairs.
Limited research assistance is available.
