Australia and New Zealand Bank Ltd was formed in 1951 following the merger of the Bank of Australasia and the Union Bank of Australia.

In 1970 the Australia and New Zealand Bank Ltd merged with the English Scottish and Australian Bank to form the Australian and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd.
