The content of the manuscripts collection is generally nineteenth-century Tasmanian, with an emphasis on the Allport family. The collection is largely as it was when bequeathed by Henry Allport. Manuscripts are infrequently added to the collection, but rare and significant items may be acquired if they meet the Library's Collection Development Policy.
